      <image:caption>Blanche Devereaux and Clayton Hollingsworth are the firm’s mascots. Blanch is a tri-colored Pembroke Welsh Corgi born in 2017. Clayton is a black and white Cardigan Welsh Corgi born in 2018. Both are named after characters from The Golden Girls. Office duties include greeting visitors, cleaning up food scraps, warming feet, security alarms, and providing entertainment and emotional support to clients, employees, and guests of the firm. In their free time, Blanche and Clayton enjoy walks, playing catch and tug-of-war, visiting the farm, spending time with family, and attempting to herd people and other animals.       <image:title>Meet Chris - Chris Wharton</image:title>
      <image:caption>T. Christopher Wharton (he/him) was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He is licensed to practice in federal and state courts in Utah and is certified to appear before the Supreme Court of the United States. Chris has an undergraduate degree in history from Westminster College. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he served as president of the Student Bar Association and managing editor of the Journal of Law and Family Studies. Chris also completed a semester studying jurisprudence at the University of Oxford and international criminal law at The Hague. Chris interned at the Utah State Legislature and worked at Utah Attorney General’s Office. He won his first jury trial while in law school as a practicing third-year law student with the Salt Lake City Prosecutor’s Office. Chris went on to work as an associate attorney for two years before opening his own practice in 2012.  Chris' extensive work in LGBTQ+ advocacy has gained local and national attention. In 2013, Chris helped lead a team of attorneys that submitted an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court, arguing for equal treatment of LGBT families under the law. In 2015, he obtained the first same-sex common law marriage adjudication in Utah.  As an active community member, Chris has done pro bono work for the ACLU of Utah, Equality Utah, and the Rainbow Law Clinic. Chris has served as president of the Utah Young Lawyers Division, vice chair of the Utah Pride Center Board of Directors, and chair of the Salt Lake City Human Rights Commission. Chris also served on the first board of the LGBT &amp; Allied Bar Association of Utah and on the Utah State Bar Board of Commissioners. He currently represents the residents of District 3 on the Salt Lake City Council. Outside the office, Chris enjoys local politics, history, art, travel, binge watching Netflix, and patronizing local restaurants and food trucks.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Tia Shim (she/her) is an attorney of counsel from New York City. Her current practice focuses on real estate transactions and contracts. She also has extensive experience in immigration law. She is licensed to practice in federal and state courts in Utah, New York, and Washington, D.C. Tia graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. She attended New York School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctorate in 2001. As an established attorney and real estate broker, Tia is able to provide a variety of high-quality services to domestic and multinational companies, corporate professionals, as well as individuals and families. In addition to working as an attorney of counsel at Wharton Law, Tia maintains her own separate commercial real estate brokerage. Tia has been instrumental in real estate transactions involving multiple government agencies and private businesses. Tia also previously served as the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) liaison to the United States Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) Salt Lake City Field Office. Outside the office, Tia enjoys hiking, travel, cultural celebrations, fashion, and interior design.       <image:caption>Chandler Miles (he/him) was born and raised in Salt Lake County, Utah. After completing high school in Pocatello, Idaho, he pursued higher education at Dixie State University (now Utah Tech University) in St. George, Utah. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, consistently earning a place on the Dean’s List and being recognized as the Criminal Justice Student of the Semester in Fall 2021. Chandler started his career in family law in June 2021, first working as an intern at a prominent law firm in St. George during his senior year of college. He has been serving as the senior paralegal at Wharton Law since July 2023. His personal experience as a child of divorce provides him with a unique perspective, enabling him to empathize deeply with our clients and their families. Outside the office, Chandler enjoys traveling, reading diverse genres, and experiencing various cultures.</image:caption>
